About the Role
We're seeking an experienced Procurement Engineer to join our MEP construction team in the UAE. You'll be the critical link between our project specifications and supplier relationships, managing the procurement lifecycle from material identification through delivery coordination. This role requires someone who can negotiate effectively, analyze technical specifications, and ensure projects stay on schedule and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Review project specifications, drawings, and BOQs to identify required materials, equipment, and subcontractor needs for MEP construction projects
- Prepare and issue detailed inquiries to suppliers and subcontractors, then evaluate and compare technical specifications against commercial proposals
- Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, payment terms, and contractual conditions with vendors to achieve optimal value without compromising quality
- Prepare comparison sheets and supplier recommendations for management review and final approval on all major procurement decisions
- Coordinate with suppliers, logistics providers, and project sites to monitor material delivery timelines and resolve any supply chain delays
- Maintain accurate procurement logs, vendor databases, and material tracking reports; ensure all items meet project specifications and quality standards upon receipt
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of accounting and procurement experience in the UAE construction or MEP industry
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field (Diploma holders will not be considered)
- Proven experience in MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) construction procurement is mandatory
- Currently residing in the UAE with ability to join immediately
- Strong negotiation skills and experience managing supplier relationships in a construction environment
- Proficiency with procurement software, vendor management systems, and MS Excel for comparative analysis
- Nice to have: Experience with project management tools, knowledge of UAE construction standards and regulations, or familiarity with international suppliers
